Pulse Terms

Terms of Service

Terms governing use of Pulse, including data limitations and your responsibilities.

Effective and last updated: October 16, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Pulse website and its earthquake and volcano monitoring features (the “Service”), operated by GeoAct (the “Operator”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.

1. Nature of the Service

Pulse presents public geophysical data and related information in an accessible format. It is not an emergency response or rescue service and does not provide professional safety, medical, legal, or financial advice. Do not rely solely on Pulse for decisions involving life or safety. Follow local authorities and check official alerts.

2. Data and information limitations

Earthquake, volcano, and other information may come from external sources such as USGS and the Japan Meteorological Agency. Source data may be delayed, incomplete, revised, or withdrawn. Mapped locations, magnitudes, times, impact areas, and classifications may include estimates or the source provider’s assessments. The Operator does not warrant that information is accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Use the Service in accordance with applicable laws and these Terms.
  • Do not disrupt its security, stability, or normal operation, or send excessive requests.
  • Do not access systems without authorization or exploit vulnerabilities.
  • When redistributing Service information, do not misrepresent its source or provisional nature and limitations.

4. External services and links

The Service may connect to external data, browser push, analytics or advertising services, or third-party websites. Their own terms and policies apply. The Operator does not control third-party services, their content, availability, or processing practices.

5. Intellectual property

The Service’s software, presentation, and Operator-created content are protected by the rights of their respective owners. External data is subject to the source provider’s terms. Use the Service as permitted by law and applicable licenses, including any attribution requirements.

6. Changes and interruptions

The Operator may improve or change Service features, data sources, or presentation. The Operator may temporarily restrict or suspend some or all of the Service for maintenance, outages, external data interruptions, security, or operational needs.

7. Warranties and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided as available, without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation or error-free information. The Operator’s liability for losses arising from use or unavailability of the Service, or delays or errors in external data, is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law. These Terms do not exclude consumer rights or liabilities that cannot legally be limited.

8. Changes to these Terms and applicable law

The Operator may update these Terms as the Service or applicable laws change. Updated Terms will be posted on this page, and material changes will be announced in the Service. Applicable laws, including mandatory consumer protection rules, govern interpretation of these Terms and disputes.
