Privacy Policy

GeoAct (the “Operator”) operates the Pulse website and its earthquake and volcano monitoring features (the “Service”). This policy describes information that may be processed when you use the Service, why it is used, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you. Pulse does not offer user accounts or process payments.

1. Information we process

• Device location: If you choose the location feature and grant browser permission, your browser provides latitude, longitude, and accuracy. Pulse uses these values in the current page session to center the globe and show nearby events. The location values are not sent to or stored on Pulse servers and are removed from session memory when you close the page.
• Browser push notifications: If you enable notifications and grant browser permission, the push endpoint, expiration time, and encryption keys are stored on the server to identify the subscription and deliver alerts. A browser or device push service may participate in delivery.
• On-device settings: Preferences such as language, display, alert thresholds, selected watch areas, and event history may be stored in your browser’s local storage. They are not sent to Pulse servers and can be removed by clearing the site data in your browser.
• Access and usage information: The web hosting environment may process standard access and security logs, such as access time, requested page, IP address, and browser or device information. On pages that load Google Analytics or Google advertising scripts, Google may process cookies or similar technologies, device or browser identifiers, IP addresses, and usage information under its own policies.

2. Purposes and choices

The Operator processes information to provide and secure the website, display the location view you request, deliver push alerts, diagnose errors, and operate usage analytics and advertising. Location access and push notifications require your separate permission in the browser. Third-party analytics and advertising services operate under their providers’ terms and privacy policies.

3. Sharing and external services

The Operator does not sell personal information. A browser or device push service may process subscription information to deliver alerts. Google Analytics and Google advertising services may process information for analytics and advertising. Pulse retrieves earthquake and volcano data from public providers such as USGS and the Japan Meteorological Agency; requests for these feeds do not include your device location. Each external provider’s privacy policy applies to its processing.

4. Retention and deletion

• Push subscription information is deleted from the server when you unsubscribe. Invalid subscriptions may be removed during delivery.
• Browser-stored preferences remain on your device until you clear the browser’s site data.
• Hosting access and security logs are kept as needed for operations and security, subject to the hosting environment’s configuration.
• Information held by Google or other providers is subject to their policies and settings.

You can turn off push notifications in Pulse settings, clear local storage through your browser’s site-data controls, and withdraw location permission in your device or browser settings.

5. International processing

The Service and its analytics, advertising, and push infrastructure may use servers in multiple countries. Information may therefore be processed outside your country of residence. Please review each provider’s policy for details about its processing and safeguards.

6. Security

The Operator applies access controls and security measures appropriate to the Service. No internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please do not submit sensitive information to Pulse.

7. Requests and contact

Where applicable law gives you the right, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of your information. Send privacy questions and requests to kodh2930@icloud.com. We may request information reasonably needed to verify your request.

8. Changes

This policy may be updated as the Service or applicable laws change. The updated policy will be posted on this page, and material changes will be announced in the Service.
